How to become a Texas notary?
To become a notary public in Texas, you must be able to answer yes to all of these questions:
- Are you 18 years or older?
- Are you a legal resident of the State of Texas?
- Have you not been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude?
If you have answered "yes" to all of the above, follow the steps listed below to become a notary in Texas:
- Complete a notary application (online or print and mail it to AAN)
- Purchase a $10,000 notary bond (required by the Texas Secretary of State)
- Purchase a notary stamp and a notary journal to authenticate and record notarized documents (required by Texas notary law)
- Take the oath of office (Texas secretary of State will supply you with the form once you are commissioned)
